There can only be one, and it looks like it’s now Ye. With his Yeezy brand expected to hit $1.5 billion in sales this year, Kanye West has surpassed Jay-Z to become ‘Forbes’ highest paid hip-hop act for the first time in his career. The Chicago native’s $150 million estimated income nearly doubles that of Jay, hip-hop’s first billionaire, who clocked in at a cool $81 million to claim the second spot. Unveiled on Thursday, the top 20 list for 2019 charted pre-tax income from June of 2018 to June of this year. It looks like Drake (with $75M), Diddy (with $70M), and ‘Forbes’ newcomer Travis Scott (with $58M) round out the rest of the top five. But hey, don’t count out the ladies! At No. 12 and 13 is Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, who raked in a reported $29 million and $28 million for the year, respectively. Everyone’s getting shmoney!
